Les Thomas Duo – Long Bio

Melbourne singer-songwriter Les Thomas joins forces with guitarist Joshua Jones for a duo show that gives the songs room to breathe and plenty of energy when they need it. Les’s warm baritone, acoustic guitar and harmonica sit alongside Joshua’s expressive lead playing on resonator and electric guitar.

Winner of the Troubadour Foundation’s Keeping the Flame Alive Award, Les writes songs shaped by memory, working lives, love, loss and resistance. He brings history close to home through the people who lived it, finding humour and hope alongside harder truths. His third album, I Remember Everything, has drawn acclaim in Australia and the UK. Americana UK called it “an absolute gem which should be studied line by line in schools,” while Morning Star awarded it five stars.

Joshua’s playing brings another voice to the stories. Resonator guitar adds texture and warmth to the quieter songs; electric guitar gives the duo lift, colour and bite. The two musicians can move from a spare verse to a driving chorus while keeping the words at the heart of the performance.

In 2026, Les toured the UK, including the Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival, before returning to Melbourne to launch I Remember Everything with his full band at Northcote Social Club. Joshua played on the album and at the launch. As a duo, they offer venues and festivals a flexible show built on strong songs, lively musical conversation and a genuine connection with the audience.
